Inspired by Leanne Cole I decided to start taking some photos in monochrome. Our destination was New River Gorge National Park & Preserve and it felt like the perfect place to try taking pictures in black and white.

The first place we stopped when we arrived was the Canyon Rim Visitor Center and the overlook.

The campground we stayed at was alongside the river. I started snapping away. I was in love with the river rocks and the thick tree roots that snaked over the river bank.

We hiked the Caste Rock trail and the slate walls were impressive.

And frightening when seeing the rocks on the trail. I hope there are no hikers under there.

Sandstone Falls was a treat. Like a tiny Niagara Falls.

And finally, the van.
