While exploring the Black Hills, we drove to Wind Cave National Park. I have to admit I had never heard of it, but there are a lot more national parks than the ones that I knew about. We could not explore the cave (it sounds interesting) because we had Poppy with us. Instead, we walked a one-mile loop called Prairie Vista – a delightful and tight trail through a prairie landscape.
We also took a seemingly seldom-driven dirt road diagonally through the park. We saw very few other vehicles, and none stopped at the lookout we were at. We did see one bison a distance from the road, but that was it for wildlife.
Here is our visit in pictures.
