New River Gorge In Monochrome

Inspired by Leanne Cole I decided to start taking some photos in monochrome. Our destination was New River Gorge National Park & Preserve and it felt like the perfect place to try taking pictures in black and white.

An Unforgettable Day

We decided to spend a day or two in The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Mark had spent many a vacation there with his dad and brothers. After walking a trail in one part of the park, we decided to spend the night at the very popular Cades Cove campground. The next day turned outContinue reading “An Unforgettable Day”

Butteflies In the Forest

I’m so happy that I started with digital photography. I’ve gotten some pretty good close-ups of the tiny denizens of the forests we’ve been staying in. The number of butterflies I’ve seen since just before Spring sprung is phenomenal. New Way to Follow the Journey

I’m excited to announce that Mark and I have started a YouTube channel as another way to tell our story as we travel. The first video is a short introduction describing what we are doing and why. Sad Trees and Waterfalls

It’s been a while since I posted anything. (I meant to post this one before the “Stranded” post.) Not because I’ve had nothing to post. In fact, I have quite a few posts rolling around in my head. Where we’ve been as of late has almost no cell reception. I decided to try something differentContinue reading “Sad Trees and Waterfalls”

Stranded In the Forest & the Interloper

It should come as no surprise that a couple days into our dispersed camping in Nantahala National Forest, the nighttime temperatures hovered in the teens. Once again the diesel heater came into use at night and in the morning. On our third morning, the diesel heater threw an error code indicating low voltage. We quicklyContinue reading “Stranded In the Forest & the Interloper”

Lessons From the Slow Lane

We’re in our 3rd month of living in our little van that can. I am already loving it and have to keep reminding myself that this isn’t a vacation and that there is no other home we are returning to. I am taking it all in and learning things along the way. Never Be InContinue reading “Lessons From the Slow Lane”
